I was Vice President of Marketing and Sales for Hilda Ltd. in Iceland. Hilda designed and marketed Icelandic woolen fashions. In North America our clients included retailers in the AMC and ADG groups. Mail order companies included L.L. Bean, Eddie Bauer and Spiegel. Small and mid-sized stores were also clients. This broad range made for great hands-on marketing and sales experience.
My work was to get the right marketing information to each retail level at the right time. Product mixes, bestsellers and JIT restocking. The run-up to Christmas was when nerves frayed. I kept in touch with them several times a week.
I also ran workshops for the floor sales staff. I got to know everything the sales staff, buyers, merchandisers and senior management worried about. Year after year I got them through to profits.

I've been a die-hard tennis player since grade school. I trained for competitive tennis. This training included coaching, on-court drills, using a broad range of training aids (including ball machines) and playing several tournaments on hard, clay and grass surfaces. I still play three times a week.
